so no more updates to 8thgen at lga1151 chipsets which is simply absurdically stupid. past few years the same with newer name that gives no value for the price and ciscontinued g4560's HT'd pentiums that people prefered it over the i3for double the lower price. then exploded x299 enthusiast chipsets on ocing.

I would be way too unable to replace my aging computer with an i7 though it's nice to go for.

depending on what egneration i7 it is.. the second gen one still kicks the third and fourth one definitely, i dont mention x79/99 chips because they're basically monsters, the first generation i7 of x-enthusiast series is still monstrous cpu and ud have to replace to high end ryzen 7 or threadripper/get x99 6800k or something to actually have reasonable upgrade
i use i5 4590 hasswell refresh(devil's canyon with less threads and slightly lower clock on cores but better multicore performance than basic hasswells of an i5). what i think after two years of having my pc actually shows its age is the gpu(gtx 960) i feel like its lifetime comes to an end so i gotta get amd rx 500series or look for used r9 280x in decent condition that of my fsync 75hz AOC monitor.
